HOW IT STARTED
The Eurojackpot lottery was proposed in 2006, to compete with the EuroMillions lottery. As a result of a large number of participating countries, the EuroMillions offered appreciably larger jackpots than those offered in other single national lotteries. Spain identified with the Eurojackpot lottery from 30 June 2012 with the ticket concession given to ONCE, the National Organization of Spanish blind people. On February 1, 2013, other countries like Croatia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden joined in the lottery. The Czech Republic and Hungary became part of Eurojackpot from October 10, 2014, Slovakia from October 9, 2015, and Poland from September 15, 2017. Comparatively, the Eurojackpot has secured a wider reach of potential players with several audiences in local countries of 300 million, compared to the Euromillions of 217 million.

COUNTRIES THAT PARTICIPATE IN THE EUROJACKPOT LOTTERY
Eurojackpot lottery game can be played by residents of the countries participating in the official draw i.e. Sweden, Spain, Slovenia, Norway, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Italy, Iceland, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, and Croatia. The Czech Republic and Hungary became part of this in October 2014. Slovakia was identified in October 2015 and Poland in September 2017. The record for the largest jackpot for the EuroJackpot was set for the first time on May 15, 2015, by a person from the Czech Republic who won the 90,000,000.00 Euro jackpot.
The 7th of January 2017 was the first event where multiple players won the same divided jackpot. For the first time, five persons (one from each German federal f Berlin, Niedersachsen and, Hessen, with a winner from Denmark and one from the Netherlands) won 18,000,000.00 Euro after a week. At that time the maximum Jackpot with 90,000,000.00 Euro hadn’t been drawn. After which it was followed by the next multiple 5+2 wins on 10 February, this time a Hungarian player won the country’s biggest-ever lottery prize.
A Finnish syndicate of 50 players from Siilinjärvi played a system ticket for 500.00 Euro and won on August 23, 2019, the biggest jackpot amount in addition to more winnings from the lower prize classifications, this means that the record prize of 91,938,695.00 Euro (84,174,472.21 GBP).
On 22 November 2019, 2 German and 1 Hungarian player landed 90,000,000.00 Euro. Each of the players was awarded 30,000,000.00 Euro.
