Mega Millions 345 million dollar jackpot – 20th drawing on Tuesday 6 October 2026

The Mega Millions jackpot is still waiting for a winner. No new drawing has taken place since Friday's rollover, so the estimated US$345 million prize – cash value US$139.6 million – goes on the line on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. It will be the 20th drawing since the jackpot was last won.

Twenty Drawings Since the US$800 Million Win

The last jackpot fell on 28 July 2026, when one ticket matched all six numbers for an estimated US$800 million. The prize reset to US$50 million on 31 July, and since then 19 consecutive drawings have rolled over. In just over two months the jackpot has grown by US$295 million, and the last two steps were US$21 million and US$24 million.

Faster Than the Previous Run

The current run is building faster than the one that produced the US$800 million prize. That earlier run started from US$50 million on 20 March 2026; by its 20th drawing, on 26 May, the jackpot stood at US$311 million – US$34 million less than this Tuesday's US$345 million. It then took a further 18 drawings, until 28 July, before somebody hit the jackpot.

That does not predict when the current jackpot will be won – every drawing is independent – but it shows how quickly a Mega Millions prize can grow once it passes the US$300 million mark.

How the Built-In Multiplier Works

A Mega Millions play in the US costs US$5, and every line comes with a built-in multiplier of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x. It applies to all prizes except the jackpot. In practice:

  • Matching five numbers without the Mega Ball pays a base prize of US$1 million – up to US$10 million with a 10x multiplier.
  • Four numbers plus the Mega Ball pays US$10,000 – up to US$100,000.
  • Matching the Mega Ball alone pays US$5 – up to US$50.

The jackpot itself is never multiplied. To win it you need all five numbers from 1 to 70 plus the Mega Ball from 1 to 24 – odds of 1 in 290,472,336. The overall chance of winning any prize is about 1 in 23. All prize tiers are listed in the Mega Millions rules.

Two Big US Jackpots on Consecutive Nights

Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing comes one night after Powerball, which is drawn on Monday, 5 October with an estimated US$467 million Powerball jackpot (cash value US$192.4 million). Together the two American jackpots are worth more than US$800 million in annuity terms this week.
