New Lotto UK Rules: Two Rounds, Coming Soon to LottoPark

Lotto UK has changed: since June 2026 every £2 line plays two rounds in each draw, each with its own six numbers and Bonus Ball. Odds of winning any prize improve to 1 in 4.9 and about 345 millionaires a year are expected. An updated Lotto UK with the new rules is coming soon to LottoPark.

The UK's best-known lottery has a new look. Since June 2026, Lotto UK – the National Lottery's flagship Lotto game – gives every line two chances to win in every draw. It is the biggest change to the game since its launch in 1994, and we have good news for LottoPark players: an updated version of Lotto UK with the new two-round rules is coming soon to LottoPark.

What Changed in Lotto UK: Two Rounds From One Line

The new format started with the first draw on Wednesday, 10 June 2026; tickets went on sale on Sunday, 7 June. The way you pick numbers has not changed: you still choose six numbers from 1 to 59. What is new is that every £2 line automatically enters two separate rounds on each draw night.

  • Each round has its own six main numbers and its own Bonus Ball.
  • The two rounds are drawn using two separate machines.
  • One line can win in round one, in round two or in both.
  • You win a prize by matching two or more main numbers in a single round.

According to Allwyn, the operator of the UK National Lottery, this improves the overall odds of winning any prize from about 1 in 9.3 to 1 in 4.9. Draws are still held twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday at 8 p.m. UK time.

Lotto UK Jackpot and Prizes Under the New Rules

Several familiar features have stayed. The jackpot starts at £2 million, can roll over up to five times, and the draw after the fifth rollover is a must-be-won draw. The jackpot is shared across both rounds, while all other prizes are fixed cash amounts paid per round.

There are still two ways to become a millionaire: match all six main numbers for a jackpot share of at least £1 million, or match five numbers plus the Bonus Ball for a fixed £1 million. In the official prize data for recent draws, five main numbers paid £1,000, four numbers £50 and three numbers £10 in each round. The odds of matching all six numbers in one round are 1 in 45,057,474.

Fun Facts: More Lotto UK Millionaires and a Lucky Round Two

Allwyn expects the new format to create about 345 Lotto millionaires a year, compared with around 140 before – more than double. The early draws showed what two rounds can do: in the first Saturday draw on 13 June, three players won £1 million each with five numbers plus the Bonus Ball, and all three won in round two. In that draw, 37% of all winning tickets won only in round two, and more than 3.1 million cash prizes were won in the first two draws.

A few more facts from the game's history:

  • The first National Lottery draw took place on Saturday, 19 November 1994, live on BBC One, and produced seven jackpot winners.
  • Every Lotto ball weighs exactly 11.8 g.
  • The largest individual Lotto jackpot, £35,133,888, was won on 6 April 2016.
  • The Lotto HotPicks add-on game has also moved to the two-round format.

Latest Lotto UK Draw: A Round-Two Millionaire

The new rules are already making headlines. In the draw on Saturday, 17 October 2026, round one produced 6, 19, 30, 45, 46, 57 with Bonus Ball 50, and round two 4, 9, 15, 32, 38, 42 with Bonus Ball 2. Nobody won the jackpot, but one ticket matched five numbers plus the Bonus Ball in round two and won £1 million. The jackpot has now rolled over twice and is estimated at £4.3 million for Wednesday, 21 October.
